Chelsea are progressing in talks with Mason Mount over signing a contract extension, according to reports.
The 23-year-old’s current deal expires in 2024 and the Blues are keen for the midfielder to commit his long-term future to the club.
It is believed that Mount could earn the same amount as Reece James. The wingback put pen to paper on a new contract (which is reportedly worth £250,000 a week) earlier this month but fans on Twitter are split on whether they feel Mount deserves pay parity with his teammate:
Great news!

For some reason, there is a sizeable portion of the Chelsea fanbase who simply don’t rate Mount. It would be understandable if the midfielder was consistently putting in poor performances but he was in double figures for both goals and assists in the Premier League last season.
Admittedly, he hasn’t played as well at the beginning of this campaign, but that is unlikely to have a bearing on contract negotiations. From the sound of things, it won’t be long before an extension is announced.
