Journalist Claims One Player Played A Key Role In Chelsea Snapping Up Werner

BILD journalist Christian Falk has credited Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger for being a key figure in persuading Timo Werner to move to Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back is a former teammate of the RB Leipzig forward, having played together for five years at Stuttgart, and Falk thinks the Blues star must have played an instrumental role:

If Rudiger did help Chelsea get the deal over the line for Werner then he deserves a pat on the back from manager Frank Lampard and his teammates.

The Blues may have Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud up front, but poor finishing has certainly cost them points this season, and the signing of a prolific goalscorer was definitely needed.

After Werner and Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea are believed to be after one more major signing ahead of the start of next campaign. It is believed Lampard wants to snap up Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, but the England international is likely to cost a significant sum. We shall have to wait and see if they do make a move for him in the coming weeks and months.
