Jamie Redknapp Singles Out Chelsea Ace For His “Lack Of Quality” Against Leicester

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has criticised Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi for his poor performance in the defeat to Leicester yesterday evening.

The 20-year-old was handed only his third league start of the season by manager Frank Lampard, with many fans anticipating a good display from him following some excellent recent cameos off the bench.

However, much like the rest of his teammates, Hudson-Odoi failed to shine on the night and Redknapp did not hold back when analysing the wide man’s performance:

“He [Lampard] gave Callum Hudson-Odoi and opportunity today. What did he do? He had one opportunity that he ends up falling over, lack of quality. These are big opportunities for players.”

It’s probably slightly harsh of Redknapp to single out Hudson-Odoi. Most of the eleven who started the match failed to perform and there were very few positives that manager Frank Lampard could take away from the game.

It’s likely that Hudson-Odoi will get another chance to impress against Luton Town in the FA Cup at the weekend, but performing well against a Championship team can’t be compared to producing top-drawer displays in the Premier League.
