“I’ve Been Told…” Journalist Reveals Chelsea Are Seriously Considering Move For 70M Rated Portuguese Star

Chelsea are weighing up a potential bid for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves ahead of the January transfer window, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Writing in his Substack column, he revealed that members of the Blues’ recruitment department are keen for the club to pursue a deal for the Portuguese international:

“I’ve been told over the weekend that Ruben Neves is once again coming up in recruitment conversations and is a player being recommended by some at the club as a midfield target we should push for in January.”

Neves has been linked with Chelsea before, although the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United have also been regularly mentioned as potential suitors.

Back in the summer, it was claimed that Wolves may hold out for as much as £70m to sell the 25-year-old but that figure is likely to have decreased due to his contract situation.

As things stand, Neves has just over eighteen months remaining on his current deal at Molineux and, with the player unlikely to sign an extension, there is a good chance that Wolves would be prepared to sell him in January for a reasonable price.
