Chelsea confirmed the sacking of manager Thomas Tuchel this morning to the disbelief of many supporters.
While the shock 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb last night is not thought to be the reason for the German’s departure, the performance itself is said to be symptomatic of what some believe is an unsettled dressing room.
It has to be said that previous Chelsea bosses have been the victim of player power and it appears that the same fate has befallen Tuchel. Fans on Twitter have been discussing why the first-team squad may have turned on the manager:
It’s been obvious for a while

Why is it always the dressing room causing problems for the coach? Simply means we have a very toxic culture, because this is not the first

It was obvious that he lost the dressing room with the way our players haven’t been trying

This is true, many players started becoming unhappy being played in different positions and the led to frustration in dressing room.

Exactly what I thought. Player power at Chelsea always reigns supreme sadly

Players will keep discarding managers whenever it pleases them then

Honestly it was clear, many players were no longer playing for him, no excitement in watching Chelsea games anymore.

The entire situation doesn’t paint the new ownership in a good light. They spent a record £271m over the summer only to then part ways with the manager (who oversaw the squad overhaul) within days of the transfer window closing.
