Higuain May Not Be Returning To Juventus Next Season

Chelsea forward Gonzalo Higuain could well end up at Roma this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Giallorossi are planning a direct swap between defender Kosta Manolas and the Argentinian international.

Juve are reportedly interested in the Greek defender, along with the likes of Arsenal, and Roma see it as an opportunity to make a deal for Higuain.

Manolas has a €36m release clause, while AC Milan agreed to pay the same figure to sign Higuain permanently before offloading him to Chelsea. The swap deal could, therefore, take place without either team losing any money this summer.

Roma, in particular, have a tight budget after failing to miss out on the Champions League, and with first-choice striker Edin Dzeko moving to Inter Milan, Higuain is seen as a perfect replacement.

The 31-year-old struggled for form after arriving at Stamford Bridge in January, going on to score just five goals in 18 appearances for the Blues.
