Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic could be offered in a straight swap deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Croatian international is closing in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge so offering him as a makeweight does make a lot of sense. However, not all fans on Twitter agree that exchanging Kovacic for Onana would be a good idea:
Good deal for both clubs, see no issue here.

I believe Inter will gladly welcome him back.

I rather take Nicole Barella for the swap.

Not really a bad deal considering they want £45m for Onana

Kovacic has actually played for Inter before. He spent two years with the Nerazzurri between 2013 and 2015 so he probably wouldn’t be against a return to Milan.
Considering the 29-year-old’s other suitors are Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, it would also prevent him from moving to another Premier League team.
The main reason supporters are questioning the potential swap, though, is Onana. Not everyone is convinced that the Cameroon international has what it takes to become the Blues’ new number one. Whether new manager Mauricio Pochettino shares those concerns, we shall have to wait and see.
