Chelsea Consider Making ‘Concrete Attempt’ To Sign Serie A Star With Club ‘Ready To Offer’ £35M

Chelsea are willing to make a “concrete attempt” to snap up Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

The website claims that the Blues are “ready to offer” €40m (£35m) for the Cameroon international, which could tempt the Nerazzurri into selling up.

Onana only joined the Serie A club on a free transfer last summer but there is pressure to balance the books, and it could lead them to sell their number one at the end of the season.

They will be hoping for competition from other clubs in order to push up the price, though. Manchester United have been mentioned as potential rivals for Onana’s signature, with manager Erik ten Hag having worked with him at Ajax. However, the Red Devils appear to be leaning towards giving David De Gea a new contract instead.

From Chelsea’s perspective, there is a possibility that two keepers could leave in the coming weeks. Edouard Mendy’s career at Stamford Bridge seems to be over, having refused to sign a new deal, so his departure looks almost certain. Kepa’s future is not as clear-cut, although it is believed that the Blues will listen to offers for the player.
