Five Strikers That Chelsea Could Look To Target In January Window

Chelsea will be looking for a new striker during the January transfer window. Although Tammy Abraham has done superbly well in Frank Lampard’s first season in charge, the 22-year-old needs some backup.

Olivier Giroud is expected to leave Stamford Bridge next month, with a move to Italy or a return to France looking likely, so a replacement will need to be brought in.

The club are said to be scouting a number of different targets now their transfer ban has been lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

So who will the Blues be targeting in January? Press the “next page” link to find out the five possible options we have identified:

Timo Werner

The German has scored 23 goals in just 24 appearances this season, and was reportedly scouted by Chelsea in the 2-2 draw between RB Leipzig and Lyon last week.

He is being pursued by a number of different teams, but he is believed to be open to a move in the January transfer window despite signing a new deal earlier this year.

Moussa Dembele

The former Celtic forward was also said to have been watched when Lyon faced Leipzig in the Champions League. The striker has bagged himself ten goals in 23 games this campaign.

Dembele is reportedly on Manchester United’s radar as well, and the 23-year-old is someone who could give Abraham a battle for his place in the side.

Habib Diallo

The 24-year-old has been linked with Chelsea over the past couple of months following a good first half of the season with Metz in Ligue One.

Diallo has scored nine goals in 18 appearances this campaign despite his team currently being third from bottom in the table.

Callum Wilson

Wilson is another player who has been consistently linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and the Bournemouth striker could well be considered this month.

The 27-year-old has only scored five goals in 18 appearances this season, and he does continue to suffer with injury problems.

Inaki Williams

The Spaniard’s adaptability may make him a more attractive option to manager Frank Lampard.

Like Werner, he can either play through the middle or out wide, but unlike the German, he also has a great deal of pace, which could suit Chelsea’s style of play.
