Five Players Who May Not Make The Cut

Five Players Who May Not Make The Cut

Even though this summer found all players with equal chances to make the cut, the trials are close to the end. Conte insisted he wants to see all players perform before making decisions as most said he will base his choices on last season’s games. The Italian boss kept his word but it is now time to figure out who will on the 30 player list registered for the 2016-2017 season. The Daily Express reported that five important names will likely not make the cut and will either be sold or sent on loan.

Here is what Conte had to say after the Blues’ victory against Milan:

“We have 30 players and four goalkeepers. Now we have one game against Werder Bremen (on Sunday) and then we must take a decision – and I hope to take the best decision for the club. “

“My ideas are very clear now, but first I must talk about these ideas with the club. It is normal when we go back to London that I will talk with the club. We will talk about these two weeks and what I have learned and I will also speak to all the players. “

“My ideas are more clear than they were two weeks ago. It is normal when you have 30 players and in just 10 days we start our League. We have to get the right squad and the right numbers.”

The first on Conte’s list seems to be Matt Miazga which might come as a surprise given the lack of defensive options Chelsea have right now. The youngster will not be sold though and will probably be sent on loan somewhere in England so as to gain more experience. Fans should not worry though as rumors have it Kalidou Koulibaly is very close to leaving Napoli in order to join Chelsea.

Loic Remy also has one foot out the door as Conte plans on putting his faith in Costa, Batshuayi and Traore. The French striker has two years left of contract but he could cut the deal short in order to move to Turkey.

Pedro is also surprisingly on this list despite the fact that he is no longer in competition with Hazard for a spot in the team. Conte wants to play the Belgium international down the middle which would leave the left flank empty. It seems that Pedro’s inability to adapt to the Premier League and the fact that he is at his best on the right where Willian is top pick, could make the Spaniard one of the players who will be leaving this summer.

Victor Moses finds himself in the same situation especially with Juan Cuadrado being confirmed as part of next season’s lot. He has been with the club since 2012 but only made 44 appearances, spending more time on loan than with Chelsea’s lot.

Lastly, there’s Asmir Begovic. The 29-year-old has made some appearances under Conte but is well aware of the fact that he will not get to play too much this season. With that being the case, why not give Jamal Blackman the chance to get some time on the pitch and allow Begovic to move to a team that will make him first pick.

These are some of the more important players Chelsea will say goodbye to. There will be others who will be leaving on loan this summer but their impact on the team was or would be rather limited compared to those above.
