Current Premier League Manager Becomes ‘Surprise Candidate’ To Succeed Potter At Chelsea

Fulham manager Marco Silva is a “surprise candidate” to replace Graham Potter as Chelsea manager, according to The Mirror.

The 45-year-old led the Cottagers to promotion from the Championship last season and his team currently sit tenth in the Premier League table.

Silva has managed four different English top-flight clubs but he has never taken charge of a side the size of Chelsea, which would probably count against him in the interview process.

Former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann remains the standout candidate to succeed Potter, but there are also other options being considered.

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim, ex-Spain manager Luis Enrique, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino have all been mentioned as potential targets.

The Blues are not expected to name a permanent manager imminently, with one of Potter’s assistants, Bruno Saltor, taking charge for the game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
