Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to battle it out for the signature of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to the Evening Standard reporter Nizaar Kinsella.
The usually reliable journalist claims that the Nigerian international is a transfer target for the Blues, although he could cost between €100m (£88m) and €150m (£132m). Surprisingly, most fans on Twitter are not keen on the club recruiting Osimhen, despite his excellent form this season. Some fear a repeat of what happened with Romelu Lukaku:
We shouldn’t pls

I’m afraid Osimhen won’t thrive at Chelsea
Boehly shouldn’t pull this off— Oil Money🛢❤️ (@oil_money_633) March 31, 2023
I hope we don’t sign him

Chelsea’s top scorer this season is Kai Havertz with nine goals, while Raheem Sterling is the next highest on seven. Nobody else has more than three in all competitions.
With that being the case, adding firepower up front is absolutely vital. Whether Osimhen is the solution, though, we shall have to wait and see. The 24-year-old has been outstanding in Serie A, having hit the back of the net 21 times in 23 appearances, but can he translate that to the Premier League?
