REPORT: Chelsea Have ‘Added’ £120M Rated Star To ‘List’ Of January Transfer Targets

Chelsea have “added” Napoli striker Victor Osmihen to their “list” of targets ahead of the January transfer window, according to ESPN.

The Nigerian international is closing in on the final two years of his contract and they may be forced to sell the forward in the New Year if he doesn’t agree an extension.

Osimhen was left upset after a TikTok video on the club’s official account mocked the player after he missed a penalty against Bologna last month.

The Serie A champions have tried to smooth things over since then with a formal apology but it has meant that negotiations over a new deal have stalled.

ESPN claim Napoli currently value Osimhen at around £120m, although they would reportedly prefer to offload the player at the end of the season rather than in January.

Will Chelsea have rivals for Osimhen’s signature?

It is believed that Real Madrid are keen on signing the 24-year-old. They lost Karim Benzema on a free transfer last summer and they have yet to replace him.

Osimhen has been mentioned as a potential target for Arsenal as well, although the Gunners are unlikely to have the money to finance a move for the striker.

Have Chelsea considered alternative striker targets?

Brentford’s Ivan Toney is said to be on the London club’s radar too, and there is a general expectation that the 27-year-old will be sold in January when his ban for betting infringements comes to an end.

ESPN say that the England international would cost £40m less than Osimhen, which would put his price tag at around £80m but, with Toney’s contract set to expire in 2025, Chelsea will be hoping to get the player for a lower fee than that.
