Chelsea are keeping tabs on Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist says the Blues and Arsenal are interested in the 27-year-old but it remains to be seen whether a move will happen in January:
“Chelsea are well informed on the situation, same for Arsenal, but the race remains absolutely open. It’s too early to know where Toney will go but, for sure, it’s an opportunity for the Brentford striker to join an important club in 2024. We’re going to see if it’s going to be the January transfer window or the summer transfer window. This also depends on who wants to pay what Brentford want, something around £50m-£60m”.
When asked whether Chelsea should pay £50m to bring in Toney when the transfer window reopens, fans on X were very much in favour:

Toney’s goals could transform Chelsea
The England international hit the back of the net 21 times in all competitions last season and, with the Blues struggling to hit the back of the net, he could be the perfect solution to solve their scoring problems.
With Romano saying that Toney could be available for just £50m, which is well below his market value, he is definitely a player that the London club should consider targeting in the New Year.
