“Chelsea Is My Dream” – Danish Teenage Sensation Makes Transfer Admission Despite City And Liverpool Links

Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu has revealed that his “dream” move would be to Chelsea.

The Denmark Under 21 international has been linked with Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona in recent months but, when asked by Ekstra Bladet (quotes via Sport Witness) which team he would like to play for in the future, the teenager replied:

“Chelsea is my dream to play for. I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them.”

Dorgu’s agent Kingsley Ogbodo revealed earlier this year that Liverpool had been scouting the 18-year-old and he predicted that the Reds would make an offer for the player.

However, an official bid for Dorgu was not tabled during the summer transfer window and he completed a permanent transfer to Lecce instead.

The Dane has just made his first-team breakthrough

After originally moving to Lecce from FC Nordsjaelland on loan last year, the fullback made the switch to Italy on a permanent basis back in July.

During his loan spell, Dorgu had played for the Primavera (Under 19) team, but Lecce boss Roberto D’Aversa made him part of the senior squad for the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

The youngster made his first-team debut against Como in the Coppa Italia last month. He was sent on as a substitute just 15 minutes into the game after Antonio Gallo was injured.

Dorgu made an instant impact, setting up Pontus Almqvist for the winning goal. The defender has subsequently made five appearances in Serie A.

Lecce’s outstanding start to the season

The fact that Dorgu’s club have remained unbeaten after five league matches (winning 3 and drawing 2) has led to increased attention.

Scouts from around Europe, including Chelsea, are likely to be keeping a close eye on the left-back’s progress. If the player gets his way, it seems he would be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
