Club Warned To ‘Watch Out’ For Chelsea As Blues Consider Reviving Move For £35M Rated French Ace

Chelsea are one of 3 clubs who are weighing up an approach for Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram, according to Interlive.it.

The Italian website claims the Nerazzurri will have to “watch out” for offers from the Blues, Tottenham and Real Madrid after some impressive recent performances.

Thuram only joined the Serie A side from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer in the summer, but he has adapted to Italian football very quickly, scoring twice and providing 3 assists in just 4 league appearances.

Interlive.it report that the forward has a valuation of €40m (£35m) despite signing him for nothing just a few months ago.

Inter do have a recent track record of selling Bosman signings on for a profit. They snapped up Andre Onana on a free before offloading him to Manchester United for £47m within 12 months.

Why are Chelsea interested in Thuram?

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been tipped to sign a new No.9 when the transfer window reopens in January. While Nicolas Jackson has impressed since his arrival, the Senegalese international does need extra support up front.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney is said to be on the Blues’ radar as well but, if they fail to land the England international, it appears that Thuram is being looked at as an alternative.

Thuram has been a target for Chelsea before

It is believed that the Blues tried to snap up the forward when he was still at Gladbach at the start of this year. However, Thuram turned down the move as he wanted to remain in Germany until the end of his contract.

Considering the 26-year-old was available on a free transfer then, it is very surprising that they didn’t make a more concerted to beat Inter to his signature. Now, they may have to be a premium to prise him away from Italy.
