Chelsea are seriously considering a move for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to The Telegraph.
The Spanish international has a €50m (£43m) release clause in his contract which makes him an attainable target for the summer transfer window. Supporters on X are seemingly behind a move for Williams, although some are hesitant about his lack of experience:
Get him asap

Gonna be best summer signing

I’m sure he is class, but I don’t think signing more young players in the best move going into the summer. Unless we sell Sterling, Mudryk and/or Madueke. We would need to make space for him and I genuinely worry how we fit in Angelo and Hutchinson cause I love them both too!

Good news for me

Chelsea will have competition for the Spaniard
Other Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in Williams over the past few months. Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa are said to be among his potential suitors.
With all three rivals likely to have Champions League football as well, it could make things difficult for Chelsea to persuade the player to move to Stamford Bridge instead. There are also concerns about Williams’s wage demands as he is already earning over £100,000 a week before tax, having signed a new contract only last year.
Williams has had a great season for Athletic
It’s not a surprise that so many teams have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. This campaign, he has scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists in 27 appearances.
Considering he does favour playing off the left wing, you do wonder whether he should be a priority target for Chelsea, especially as the Blues already have the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk who can play there.
