Ojodu FC striker Hafiz Umar Ibrahim has “arrived in London” for a trial with Chelsea, according to journalist Lolade Adewuyi.

Taking to X on Sunday, the former Goal reporter and current managing editor of Soccernet.ng said that the forward has finally acquired a visa to enter the UK.

It had taken Ibrahim a while to receive the work permit but he has now travelled to London, where he has already started training with the Blues.

Ibrahim will spend two weeks at the Cobham training centre before Chelsea decide on whether to offer him a longer contract.

The Nigerian is 18 years of age, and he can play as either a centre-forward or on the left-hand side of a front three.

Ibrahim came to the attention of scouts after his eye-catching displays for Ojodu FC at the Viareggio Cup last month. In just 6 games, the teenager hit the back of the net 10 times before his team were knocked out by Beyond Limits’ Football Academy at the semi-final stage.

He was destined to join a team in Norway

It was previously reported by Adewuyi and Soccernet.ng that Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt were keen on snapping up Ibrahim. However, the Blues then stepped in and offered him a trial.

The young striker is said to have had a video call with Raheem Sterling which convinced him that a move to England would be the right one for him.

Of course, at this stage, there is no guarantee that Ibrahim will stay at Chelsea beyond the end of the trial. However, it is still a great opportunity for him to make a good impression on the club’s youth coaches, who will be keeping a close eye on his performances on the training pitch over the next fortnight.
