Chelsea have had their first approach knocked back by Arsenal for Emile Smith Rowe, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners are reluctant to sell the Englishman, who has been capped 3 times by his country, but there is a possibility that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will go back in for the player. Fans on X have been debating whether Smith Rowe is actually good enough to play for the Blues:
Na he's fully just a worse version of Mount

Absolutely pointless signing.
Would end up being another notch on our injury list.

Good relations between the two clubs could help in negotiations for Smith Rowe
Considering that Chelsea and Arsenal have already negotiated one deal for Kai Havertz this summer, there should already be good communication between club officials.
Of course, a lot depends on the Gunners’ willingness to sell and, if Mikel Arteta’s side do stick to their guns, then the Blues will have to move on to alternatives quite soon with Friday’s deadline fast approaching.
Chelsea are considering multiple options ahead of deadline day
Smith Rowe is not the only forward that the Blues are targeting before the transfer window closes. There has been talk that the club could also go after Barcelona pair Ferran Torres and Raphinha.
The likes of Lyon’s Bradley Barcola and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson have also been mentioned as possible targets in recent weeks.
