REPORT: Chelsea Interested In Transfer For Ex-Premier League Barcelona Pair

Chelsea are reportedly interested in a transfer move for Raphinha and ex-Manchester City star Ferran Torres, according to a recent report from the Daily Mail.

In addition to this, Chelsea are also linked with a potential move for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe – as things stand, this potential deal seems to be more tenuous than the other two. It seems unlikely that the Gunners will be willing to let go of such a promising talents, especially to one of their bitter rivals.

Neither Torres nor Raphinha are currently in Barca boss Xavi’s first-team plans – as such, it would not be a surprise to see either of them depart the Nou Camp in the ongoing summer transfer window.

What would Ferran Torres bring to the team?

A technical, creative attacking midfielder, Ferran Torres has excellent passing and dribbling ability – he is brilliant at unlocking even the tightest of back lines.

He is also very adaptable, being able to play as a right winger, a left winger, an attacking midfielder and as a striker. Such flexibility can be invaluable in a team such as Chelsea’s.

Of the two, if Chelsea can only get their hands on one of them, we feel that Torres would be the better option – he could add a creative spark that the Blues currently do not have in the final third at present.

How could Raphinha improve the Chelsea squad?

A fast, direct wide man who is never afraid to take on his man, Raphinha has bags of flair – with solid fundamentals to back up his skills and tricks.

The last time he was in the Premier League, he featured for Leeds United as their star player – it is no coincidence that they were relegated following his departure to La Liga.

Chelsea have some very talented wingers in their team, such as Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk, but adding another to their ranks certainly won’t hurt.

While we believe Torres would be the better signing, Raphiha isn’t without his own merits – he is more explosive than Torres, which will aid him greatly with the physicality of the Premier League.
