Chelsea are weighing up a potential move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez before the transfer window closes, according to The Byline podcast’s Alex Goldberg.
The presenter, who was one of the first to report on Arsenal’s interest in Kai Havertz, suggests there is “something” in the claims that Chelsea want to buy the Uruguayan international:
Let’s see if anything materializes. Liverpool do not want to sell to us but there is something there…

It’s fair to say that fans on X are not exactly enthusiastic about the prospect of Nunez moving to Stamford Bridge, with many not convinced he is the number nine that they need:

Nunez does have a lot of potential
While the striker may have not lived up to his £85m price tag during his first season in England, it is important to remember that he is still only 24 years of age.
15 goals in 42 appearances is not a poor return by any means and, after twelve months of adapting to English football, Nunez could be primed to explode in the right setup.
Liverpool are unlikely to sell
Nunez has not started either of the Reds’ first two league games and he didn’t look too happy after getting just five minutes off the bench in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
However, with just a week left to go before the transfer window shuts, the Merseyside club would struggle to find a replacement if they sold the Uruguayan now. On top of that, they would be reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival.
