Chelsea will sell Conor Gallagher if they receive a bid of around £50m for the midfielder during the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.
Tottenham are said to be interested in signing the England international and, despite being a key player for manager Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues could be convinced into selling him next month. While there are some supporters on X who would not be against offloading Gallagher, a sizeable number are not pleased that the club’s owners are willing to let him go:
Makes no sense. Should be the last person considered to sell

Awful decision. There are many players that we should sell Before him (Sterling (40-50 Million Saudi), Broja and Maatsen 30 Million Each), Chaloabh, Chilwell 60 Million , Sarr, Betennlie, Beach, we could make 200 Million selling these players instead!

Consequences of making a lot of unnecessary signings ✍️.
Now the urge to sell and balance the book at any cost 🤦.

Why has Gallagher been made available for transfer?
There are a couple of reasons why the Blues are contemplating selling the 23-year-old. As he has just 18 months left on his contract, getting him off the club’s books now would be the best decision financially to prevent his value from depreciating further.
In addition, the fact that Gallagher is an academy player means his sale would look good on the balance sheet in terms of FFP. He is effectively a player who cost nothing but could be sold on for a significant profit.
Will Chelsea sell Gallagher to a direct rival?
As mentioned, Spurs are said to be the midfielder’s main suitors at the moment. His price tag suggests that there won’t be many other teams who could afford him.
Consequently, that means there is a distinct possibility of Chelsea selling one of their most important players to a London rival.
