Chelsea target Antonio Nusa has played down the prospect of leaving Club Brugge during the January transfer window.

The Norwegian international was the subject of a €30m (£26m) bid from the Blues in the summer and, when asked in an interview by Het Nieuwsblad (quotes via VoetbalPrimeur.be) whether he could be on the move this month, he replied:

“It is not the intention to leave before the end of the season. Never say never, it’s still football, but I’m a Club [Brugge] player. That’s what I focus on.”

From the sound of things, it does appear as if Nusa is set to remain in Belgium, at least until June when it looks like the teenager will make a decision on his future.

Will Chelsea make another attempt to sign the player?

Nusa is believed to be still among Chelsea’s list of transfer targets but it is unlikely that he will be a priority for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in January.

A new striker is said to be top of the agenda and, while Nusa is a forward, he plays most of his football from the left flank.

How has Nusa been performing this season?

Despite the interest from Chelsea and other big clubs, the 18-year-old is still not a regular for his current team Club Brugge, having started only 11 times so far this campaign.

Nusa has hit the back of the net just 3 times and made 3 assists in total, which suggests he is far from the finished article at the moment.

Of course, the winger is still very young and the fact that Chelsea were prepared to pay so much for him in the first place suggests that he does have the potential to improve those numbers significantly in the future. This is probably a transfer to keep a close eye on.
