Chelsea Target Speaks Out Amid Claims He Could Make 7.2M Switch In January

Malmo centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic has said he is flattered by the interest being shown in him amid speculation that Chelsea are pursuing the defender.

Reports in Sweden claimed that the Blues are prepared to pay €8m (£7.2m) to secure the player’s services, as well as offer a five-year contract to the 21-year-old.

Asked about the transfer rumours, Ahmedhodzic responded by saying that while he is happy that such big clubs are watching his progress, he is 100% focused on his football and will let others handle his future:

“If it affects me, it has affected me positively. I do not walk around thinking that ‘oh, they or they are hungry for me.’ I think it’s fun that such good clubs are interested, but my focus now is just to take home the gold. Daniel (Andersson, Malmo’s Sporting Director) has to solve it.”

When interrogated further about Chelsea and their interest in him, Ahmedhodzic said he was allowing his agent Markus Rosenberg to handle any potential offers:

“I have told Mackan that he can take care of everything. I do not want to hear anything.”

Interestingly enough, Ahmedhodzic has actually played in England before. The Bosnian international spent some time at Nottingham Forest before returning to Malmo at the start of 2019. It will be interesting to see whether the Blues make their move for the centre-half in January.
