Chelsea Star Will Stay

Chelsea midfielder Oscar will not be leaving the club this summer.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after his form dipped last season. Jose Mourinho was said to be ready to listen to offers for the 23-year-old. But now Sky Sports claim the player will remain at Chelsea.

It had been reported that Oscar had held talks with Italian champions Juventus, who are on the lookout for new midfield recruits with veteran Andrea Pirlo on the way out and Paul Pogba set to follow. However these reports are said to be wide of the mark.

Oscar managed 6 goals for Chelsea last season, in what was a strange campaign for the attacking midfielder. The 23-year-old seemed to struggle with his consistency and failed to recreate the form that saw him push Juan Mata out of the Chelsea team last year.

He was left out of the Brazil squad for the Copa America this month, something which could be put down to his loss of form, but is more than likely due to an injury he suffered towards the end of the season.

Brazil’s manager had this to say on the situation before the tournament began: “We spoke with Jose Mourinho and the doctor at Chelsea.”

“Oscar’s recuperation will take time and he won’t be at his best during the Copa America.”

It is clear that Oscar is a player who possesses great talent. It would be a great shame to see him shown the door by Mourinho, but after today’s news it seems the youngster still has a future with the Blues.
