Chelsea Set To Hold Talks With 35 Year Old Defender Over Signing Two Year Contract

Chelsea are set to sit down with Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva about joining the Blues on a free transfer this summer, according to reports in England.

The Brazilian centre-back is interested in playing in the Premier League but wants a two-year deal if he is to move to Stamford Bridge.

Thiago is now 35 years of age but he would come with a great deal of experience, having won league titles in Italy and France, as well as being capped by Brazil 89 times. Frank Lampard’s side struggled defensively last season, and bringing in a leader at the back to organise the backline is a priority for the club.

The only possible stumbling block to a deal going ahead will be the player’s salary. He has been earning £1.3m a month during his time at PSG, and he would have to accept reduced terms if he wants to make the switch to Chelsea.
