Chelsea Player Ratings vs Manchester City

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Manchester City

Chelsea’s slow start to the Premier League continues as they are beaten 3-0 by rivals Manchester City. The Blues faced City in what was touted as the biggest game of the start of the season, however there was no repeat of last season’s solid viewings against the Citizens.

Chelsea began the game on the back foot, and almost found themselves 1-0 down just 20 seconds in when Aguero broke through the defence courtesy of David Silva’s exquisite pass. It wasn’t long before Begovic’s resistance was broken by the Argentine though, as Aguero opened the scoring mid-way through the first half.

Going in 1-0 down at half time, Chelsea had a shout for a red card as Diego Costa was elbowed by City midfielder Fernandinho, the decision went against the Blues and the Brazilian midfielder coincidentally went on to score the thrid.

It is a bitter blow for Chelsea, who are now 5 points behind both Manchester clubs. Although it is early in the season, too early to call champions, the results Chelsea have had so far will give them a big moral shock. It will also serve as a big boost for City who look to reclaim the title from Chelsea.

Overall, it has been a bitterly disappointing game from Chelsea, who looked far from their best. Mourinho’s tactics, for once, just didn’t come off.

Here’s how we rated the Chelsea players – all ratings are scored out of 10:

Begovic – 7

Azpilicueta – 6

Terry – 5 (Zouma – 6)
