Chelsea Player Ratings V Arsenal: Four Players Get 3/10 While Three Others Get 4

Chelsea suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday evening.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino made a number of changes in the backline that certainly didn’t help matters in terms of keeping a clean sheet.

The absence of Cole Palmer due to illness also made the Blues rather blunt in attack, and the result raises further questions about the future of Pochettino.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Djordje Petrovic – 5/10 – made a number of good saves but letting in Leandro Trossard’s opener at the near post was inexcusable.

RB – Alfie Gilchrist – 4/10 – the defender made his full debut after replacing the injured Malo Gusto but he couldn’t deal with Trossard, Declan Rice and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who all targeted him.

CB – Axel Disasi – 3/10 – found life difficult against Arsenal’s attack and also missed a chance to score from a corner at the other end.

CB – Benoit Badiashile – 3/10 – a surprise starter considering his poor recent form. Kept giving the ball away which clearly indicates his confidence is shot.

LB – Marc Cucurella – 4/10 – Bukayo Saka had the beating of him and he was at fault for two of Arsenal’s goals.

Midfield

CM – Moises Caicedo – 5/10 – completely overrun in the middle of the park. It didn’t help that those beside him in midfield were so poor.

CM – Enzo Fernandez – 3/10 – missing in action once again. It’s concerning how often a player (who cost £107m) simply disappears if the game isn’t going his way. Subbed off in the second half.

There have been rumours that Fernandez is playing through the pain barrier with a hernia injury. If that is the case then he shouldn’t be playing.

AM – Conor Gallagher – 4/10 – one of the midfielder’s poorest performances of the season. He kept giving the ball away.

Forwards

RW – Noni Madueke – 6/10 – was Chelsea’s biggest threat going forward as he troubled Tomiyasu on a number of occasions.

CF – Nicolas Jackson – 5/10 – got the better of William Saliba, which is saying something, but he failed to hit his straps once again with two glaring misses.

There is a player in there, and you do feel he can blossom into a great forward if he improves his finishing.

LW – Mykhailo Mudryk – 3/10 – like Fernandez, he is struggling to live up to his price tag. Completely anonymous at the Emirates.

Substitutes

Trevoh Chalobah – 5/10 – came on to stop the flow of goals being conceded but Havertz still bagged Arsenal’s 5th of the game.

Raheem Sterling – 5/10 – didn’t offer much to proceedings other than a tame free-kick.

Thiago Silva – 6/10 – Chelsea didn’t concede after his introduction.

Cesare Casadei – 5/10 – got some minutes on the pitch but didn’t really make much of an impact.
