Joe Cole Hails “Unbelievable” Chelsea Ace Who Has The Perfect Combination Of Mentality And Technique

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has praised Cole Palmer for his outstanding mentality on the football pitch.

The 21-year-old has been named “Cold” by both teammates and fans due to his ability to stay calm under pressure, and Cole thinks it is one of the reasons he has been so successful since arriving at Stamford Bridge:

“He has a throwback maverick mentality. He scored a hat-trick against Manchester United, but in his post-match interview, it was as if he was walking his dog in the park. It is not forced. He just has a coolness and calmness on the football pitch. It is unbelievable. His mentality elevates his performance beyond just his technique.”

“He has a lovely left foot when striking the ball well, but his decision-making is spot on. He makes through balls all the time and makes the right pass, but, above all, it is his mentality. I think he is a winner as well from Man City.”

A player who is wise beyond his years

Palmer clearly has a level head on his shoulders. He doesn’t let any outside influences affect his performance. One great example of that was the penalty against Everton.

Despite the disruption caused by both Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson wanting to take the spot-kick, Palmer stayed calm throughout and slotted away his fourth goal without any fuss.

Chelsea’s best signing under the new ownership

While the club’s owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have thrown their money around since their arrival in 2022, they haven’t always invested wisely in signings.

However, the £42.5m that the Blues paid Manchester City for Palmer could well turn out to be a bargain. He is currently joint-top scorer in the Premier League and who knows what heights he could reach in the future. His performances have really been a sight to behold this season.
