Chelsea Midfield Ace Shows He Has Arrived With PFA Awards Nomination

Ross Barkley has to be the player of the season for Chelsea so far and he could well be the player of the season in the Premier League too. Not much was expected from the former Everton man as he looked to get back to full fitness and work his way back into the first XI this campaign.

Few predicted that Barkley would play such a huge role for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri but the midfielder has taken to the Italian’s style of football like a duck to water.

The new Chelsea boss has trusted Barkley and the youngster has responded becoming the main creative midfielder for Chelsea so far this season – genuinely taking some of the weight off Eden Hazard’s shoulders. In fact the injury absence of the brilliant Belgian has surprisingly had little effect to the results of Sarri’s Blues and this really comes down to the play of the England man.

Gareth Southgate recalled the young midfielder to the England team too and Ross Barkley showed what he has got by masterminding the special win in Seville where England beat Spain 4-3 in the Nations League and he has looked completely at home for both club and country.

After a good September, in the month of October Chelsea’s young midfielder really stepped on the accelerator as he had a hand in no less than 6 goals in the Premier League in 3 games.

No player in the Premier League was involved in more goals and Barkley notched the crucial 96th minute equaliser against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge to preserve Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season.

Barkley is up against Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Manchester City’s Fernandinho as well as Brighton’s Shane Duffy and Matt Ryan in the PFA Fans Player Of The Month Award for October.
