Chelsea Loan Watch – Who Are The Ones To Watch Right Now?

There were some strange reactions from fans after seeing the latest transfer rumors surrounding Stamford Bridge. It started a couple of weeks back when Chelsea were linked to players like Crouch and Carroll. Apparently, Leicester’s Islam Slimani is the most recent possible transfer people are talking about.

You can understand the fans’ frustration when hearing such things especially now when some of Chelsea’s loanees have become more than just prospects. Why not bring those guys back instead of signing a 30-something striker with no future at Stamford Bridge.

Looking at the long list of Chelsea players performing for other teams, few of them really have stood out this season:

Kurt Zouma – Stoke City – Whoever planned his recovery knew what they were doing. Zouma is a constant presence for Stoke, making 24 appearances and scoring once. It was the best choice for him to leave on loan as everyone is now fairly sure he will be back at Stamford Bridge next season. Even though Stoke are 1 point above the relegation line, it’s fair to say it would have been much worse without Zouma.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – Crystal Palace – Left in July to build up his confidence and also to find his on-pitch personality. He’s been playing several positions for Crystal Palace which is not necessarily a bad thing. His performances led to his international debut for England. Unfortunately, he is now injured and has been affected by 3 different health problems this season. Despite that he is still a revelation. Imagine if he is well taken-care of in May when he gets back to Chelsea. He could surely become a team regular.

Tammy Abraham – Swansea City – Made 23 appearances for the Swans in which he scored 5 times and provided 1 assist. These may not be the biggest numbers but just as in Loftus-Cheek’s case, they led to Abraham’s promotion to the big leagues. He also made his international debut in November. With Chelsea struggling to find options for the attack, this 1,90m tall youngster might just be what Conte needs.

Aside from these three who are now in the Premier League, Chelsea have a few others you might want to keep an eye out for:

Mario Pasalic (Center-mid) – Spartak Moscow – 23 appearances – 5 goals and 1 assist.
Matt Miazga (Center-back) – Vitesse Arnhem – 25 appearances – 1 goal

All are young and are constantly improving. The future looks bright for Chelsea who will hopefully combine spending big with promoting their youth players such as these guys.
