Chelsea ‘Likes’ Inter Milan Playmaker ‘A Lot’ As Potter Eyes Midfield Overhaul

Chelsea are contemplating a move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to La Repubblica.

The Italian newspaper claim Graham Potter’s team “likes” the Italian international “a lot” and there is a possibility the 25-year-old could be sold by his club.

Inter are believed to be already looking at targets if Barella were to be offloaded, with manager Simone Inzaghi said to have identified Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi as a potential option.

In terms of Chelsea’s priorities, it remains to be seen where Barella fits in. They are expected to be in the market for more than one midfielder, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante both looking likely to leave Stamford Bridge.

However, Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and West Ham’s Declan Rice reportedly top their list of replacements, while recent reports in Portugal claim that the Blues have also made an offer for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez.

It could well be the case that Barella is a backup if bids for these players don’t end up being successful.
