Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Wesley Fofana is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The centre-back has not played this campaign after sustaining an ACL injury back in the summer and, asked for the latest on Fofana’s fitness, Pochettino said:
“Unfortunately, I think it is difficult to see him [again this season].”
Supporters on X are not that shocked by this latest development but some are questioning the club’s decision to pay £75m for a player who was known to be injury prone:
Is anyone surprise ??

It’s devastating news for Fofana
Last month, the Frenchman took to X with a positive update on his fitness, suggesting he would be back soon.
However, it appears that Fofana’s recovery has not been as straightforward as expected and it looks like he will now miss the entire season.
Fofana’s injury record since joining Chelsea
The 23-year-old has spent 355 days on the sidelines after moving to Chelsea in the summer of 2022; that’s almost an entire calendar year.
What should concern fans even more is that the three injuries he has sustained have all been knee problems. It, therefore, remains to be seen whether Fofana can return to his best once he recovers full fitness.
