Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has vowed that he will be back out on the pitch “soon.”
The Frenchman has been sidelined since pre-season after picking up a serious knee injury but, in a series of posts on X, the centre-back told supporters he is working hard to get back to full fitness:
I give everything in gym for come back stronger and better it’s a long process but the best version of Wesley Fofana is coming

Fans had a mixed reaction to Fofana’s remarks, with some looking forward to his return, while others are sceptical that he will have a significant impact on the team’s results:

The defender has had a woeful fitness record since moving to Chelsea
Fofana has only played 20 games for the Blues since arriving from Leicester City for £75m in the summer of 2022. Over the past 18 months, he has missed an astonishing 327 days due to fitness problems.
Three major knee injuries have kept him on the treatment table but the France international now seems hopeful that the worst days are behind him.
Fofana is making progress on his fitness
It was reported last month that the 23-year-old was back out on the grass as he steps up his rehabilitation. ACL injuries can take up to 9 months to recover from so he may still be several weeks away from making his return.
Of course, everyone recovers at different speeds and Fofana seems optimistic that he will be playing for Chelsea’s first team again sooner rather than later.
