Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that both Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are closing in on returns to full training.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game against Manchester City, Pochettino said that Lavia is the nearest to making his comeback but Nkunku could also be available again by the end of this month:
“We had a conversation, and he [Nukunku] said to me, ‘I want to be ready for after the international break’. I said to him yesterday ‘You are a liar’, but he is doing really well, and we are very happy with how he is doing with his recovery. He is very professional. Lavia is also close. He trained today on the pitch. Hopefully with the team next week.”
Supporters on X are excited by the prospect that both Nkunku and Lavia could soon make their competitive debuts for the club:

Chelsea fans have had to wait a long time to see the pair play
Nkunku sustained a serious knee injury during the Blues’ pre-season tour of the United States. The summer signing had to undergo surgery, missing the first three months of the campaign, but he is closing in on his comeback.
Lavia, meanwhile, arrived from Southampton in a deal worth £58m in August. However, he was not match-fit when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, having not played much for the Saints in pre-season. The Belgian then had a further setback when he picked up an ankle injury in September which has kept him sidelined for almost eight weeks.
