Chelsea Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Mykhailo Mudryk, Romeo Lavia And 8 Other Players

In the build-up to the Luton game, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said that Mykhailo Mudryk would need to be assessed.

The Ukrainian international picked up a knock to his ankle during the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in midweek.

Mudryk was named on the bench for the 3-2 win on Saturday, although he was an unused substitute, raising concerns about his current fitness situation.

Return Date – 30th Dec v Luton Town

Robert Sanchez is nearing a return from a knee injury. The Spanish international has been sidelined since early December when he had to be substituted in the 2-0 defeat to Everton. Ben Chilwell (hamstring) is also believed to be close to making a comeback after spending three months on the treatment table.

Potential Return Date – 6th Jan v Preston North End (FA Cup)

Romeo Lavia has only just returned from an ankle injury but Pochettino has confirmed that he did pick up another problem when making his debut against Palace.

Reports suggest it could be an issue with his thigh and it is unlikely that the club will take a risk on him considering his recent fitness record.

Potential Return Date – 13th Jan v Fulham

Marc Cucurella has undergone an operation on an ankle injury he sustained in the loss to Everton and the initial estimate is that he will be out for at least two months.

Trevoh Chalobah, meanwhile, has had a number of setbacks in his recovery from a hamstring problem which he picked up right before the start of the season.

Potential Return Date – 23rd Feb v Tottenham Hotspur

Carney Chukwuemeka is said to be making progress on recovering from a knee issue that has plagued him since the defeat to West Ham back in August. However, no clear date has been set for his return.

It’s a similar case for captain Reece James who has had surgery on his hamstring, Enzo Fernandez who has picked up a hernia, and Wesley Fofana who is still in rehab with an ACL injury.
