Latest Chelsea Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku And 7 Others

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he expects both Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku to be back in the matchday squad against Liverpool.

Gusto has missed the last two games against Middlesbrough and Aston Villa due to a muscular problem.

Nkunku, meanwhile, has not featured since coming on as a substitute during the 3-2 win over Luton Town at the end of last month.

The France international has been undergoing treatment on a troublesome hip injury but he is likely to be available for the trip to Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Expected Return Date – Wednesday 31st January v Liverpool

Robert Sanchez is close to making his comeback from a knee problem. The goalkeeper has not played since being taken off in the closing stages of the 2-0 defeat to Everton in early December.

Trevoh Chalobah (hamstring) is also poised to make his return very soon. The defender has not played a single minute for the first team this season but he is back in full training.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 4th February v Wolves

Marc Cucurella underwent surgery on an ankle injury last month and, at the time, it was estimated that he could be out for around two to three months.

The fullback is not expected to be back in action until the end of February at the very earliest.

After suffering multiple hamstring injuries this season, it was decided that captain Reece James would undergo surgery to fix the problem.

The fullback has had the operation but he is set to be out for at least three months, with his return date set for sometime in April.

No estimates have been given on when Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) and Romeo Lavia (thigh) will make their returns to full fitness, while Wesley Fofana is a long-term absentee with an ACL injury.
