Chelsea Could ‘Seriously Target’ 26M Rated Serie A Midfield Dynamo After “Excellent” World Cup Display

Chelsea may look to “seriously target” Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie when the transfer window opens, according to Calciomercato.it.

The American international is seen as a “feasible” option in January with manager Graham Potter keen to “revolutionise” his midfield.

With N’Golo Kante and Jorginho both likely to depart Stamford Bridge when their contracts expire at the end of the season, the Blues are already looking to reinforce their numbers in the middle of the park.

Calciomercato.it say McKennie has ended up on the club’s “shopping list” with the 24-year-old being seen as a useful squad option. The fact that Juve are willing to sell up for around €30m (£26m) also makes the player an attractive target.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher praised the midfielder as “excellent” after his display against England in the World Cup group stages, as the USA held the Three Lions to a 0-0 draw.

Other teams, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham have also considered making offers for McKennie in the past, so we shall see if Chelsea do have competition for his services.
