Chelsea have reached a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, the club have confirmed this morning.

The signing will cost the Blues €64m (£58m) but the player will be loaned back to the German club for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea have moved quickly in the January transfer window in order to secure Pulisic with Liverpool and Arsenal also having shown interest in the player in recent months.

The deal was likely brought forward due to the Blues’ potential transfer ban, but it means the London club have secured one of the world’s brightest young talents.

Pulisic says he is delighted to be moving to Stamford Bridge:

“In the summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world-class players.”

The 20-year-old has made 18 appearances for Dortmund this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists. However, he has only made five starts in the league under manager Lucien Favre this campaign, and with his contract running into its last 18 months, his club have opted to sell for lower than their reported £70m asking price.
