Chelsea Make First Official Bid For £70m Rated Bundesliga Star But There’s A Problem

Chelsea have placed an offer on the table for Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, according to the Evening Standard.

The Blues have reportedly bid below the Bundesliga’s club’s £70m asking price but there appears to be another major problem with the deal, other than the price tag.

Pulisic reportedly favours a move to Liverpool so he can work under Jurgen Klopp for a second time. The Reds boss signed the midfielder for Dortmund back in February 2015.

The German resigned as manager at the end of the 2014/15 campaign before taking over at Anfield but he has continued to monitor the American international’s progress.

Pulisic is refusing to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2020, leaving Dortmund open to selling the player. The Blues would like to get a deal over the line in January but the German side would prefer to let him go in the summer.

If Liverpool don’t come in with an offer of their own, Chelsea will certainly remain firm favourites for the 20-year-old’s signature, but much may depend on how far they are prepared to go in meeting the reported asking price.
