Chelsea And La Liga Rival Have ‘Already Come Forward’ As Race Heats Up To Sign Unhappy Bundesliga Star

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are the frontrunners to sign Bayern Munich fullback Benjamin Pavard, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the sides have “already come forward” to register their interest in the France international who is said to be unhappy at the Bundesliga champions.

Pavard has been overlooked by manager Julian Nagelsmann in Bayern’s last two games, with Noussair Mazraoui having been given the nod to start against Barcelona and Mainz.

Reports in the German media have claimed that the 26-year-old has made his feelings known to the club’s coaching staff, having looked frustrated in training on Sunday.

Pavard revealed that he did reject approaches from other teams during the summer transfer window, but he has not ruled out leaving Bayern in the near future, with his contract set to expire in 2024.

Chelsea are keen to provide cover for Reece James at right wingback and Pavard’s ability to play as a centre-half as well means he could prove useful in both positions.
