Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said he is not interested in becoming Chelsea head coach at the end of the season.

The Italian, who has won the Champions League a record four times, spent two seasons in charge of the Blues between and 2009 and 2011 before being sacked. When asked about a potential return at a press conference on Tuesday, he replied:

“I feel sad (looking at Chelsea’s position in the table). I have a fantastic memory of this club, of the people that are still working there. I’m a supporter of Chelsea, because I spent two years there. Will I go back? No, I hope Lampard will be able to do a fantastic job with them.”

Ancelotti would certainly be an excellent candidate if he were to be interested in the role. During his first spell at Stamford Bridge, he won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield, whilst recording a win percentage of 61.5%. However, he appears to have ruled himself out of the running.

At the moment, Julian Nagelsmann remains the bookies’ favourite to replace Frank Lampard when the campaign is over, although Luis Enrique and River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo are also still said to be in contention for the job.
