Luis Enrique’s Stance On Chelsea Job Revealed After He Impresses In “Face To Face” Talks

Luis Enrique “wants to take his time” before deciding on whether to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

After being pictured in London last week, Enrique is said to have met with officials from the Blues, and Phillips claims that he made a good impression:

“I had that confirmed; he did have a face-to-face interview with Chelsea this week. This was after his agents had already sent an impressive presentation of his ideas and visions to Chelsea. Chelsea invited him over to London for an interview; he came and had that, it went very well on both sides. Chelsea were impressed with him, he was impressed with Chelsea’s project and what they want to do, but the thing with Enrique is he wants to take time with this decision as well.”

Enrique is believed to be one of the leading candidates to succeed Frank Lampard once the interim manager leaves Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The Blues haven’t yet made a decision on who they want to appoint. There have been some suggestions that Julian Nagelsmann is the preferred choice, but the German’s refusal to take the job immediately led to Lampard being given the responsibility for the short term.

That doesn’t necessarily rule out Enrique from the running, though, as it seems he is happy to wait until the campaign ends in May to make up his mind as well.
