“Calling His Agent…” Chris Sutton Predicts Chelsea Summer Swoop For 97M Rated Defender

Ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has backed his former club to make an offer for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer.

The Croatian international revealed last week that the Blues did table a substantial bid for him last year, and Sutton believes it is a deal the London club will revisit in the future:

“Gvardiol is a rising star and someone we’re likely to see in the Premier League soon. Chelsea will no doubt be calling his agent.”

Leipzig are likely to drive a hard bargain, despite there being good relations between the clubs after Chelsea agreed to pay a premium to snap up Christopher Nkunku at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga team have already given Gvardiol a new long term contract and reports suggest that the 20-year-old could cost as much as €110m (£97m).

With Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United having also been mentioned as potential suitors too, Leipzig won’t feel the need to drop their demands either, so we shall see if Graham Potter‘s side do revive their interest in the centre-back.
