Batshuayi back on a track and loving life at Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi has opened up about what he described as a “difficult” time at Stamford Bridge, but believe his career is “back on track” after a brilliant start to his spell with Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgian striker was loaned to Dortmund on deadline day of the January transfer window, after failing to make an impression on manager Antonio Conte in the previous 18 months as a Chelsea player.

Batshuayi managed a more than respectable 19 goals in 53 appearances – many of those from the bench – at The Bridge, however the 24-year-old was still unable to force himself in the Chelsea first team.

Since his move to Germany however, Batshuayi has shone. In just 11 games, the former Marseille star has found the net 8 times, including hitting three winners to earn his side a nine crucial Bundesliga points.

The striker’s future however remains very much up in the air.

“Don’t ask me about my future,” Batshauyi responded when asked by Sky Sports if he were to stay at the Westfalenstadion beyond the end of the season, “I had a difficult time, and it’s good to be back on track.”

And when asked why he believes he has done so well at Dortmund, Batshuayi replied: “I was very well received by Dortmund, by the whole club.

“I felt a lot of love, a footballer is stronger when he has confidence.

“I didn’t expect to find my efficiency so quickly. This is the real Michy, but I still want more.

“The fans are unbelievable and the stadium is beautiful. I really never expected to settle so quickly.”
