“At This Stage…” Romano Delivers Fresh Update As Chelsea Are Linked With Forward Who Has Scored 111 PL Goals

There is no substance to reports linking Chelsea with a move for Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Rumours circulated last week that the Senegalese international was a target for the Blues but Romano has played down any suggestions that the player could make the switch back to England:

“I’m not aware of any contact between Sadio Mane and Chelsea at this stage. Chelsea have many wingers, their priorities are on different positions including new number 6 and new striker. Let’s see what will happen with the new coach, but for Mane decision time will not be now.”

Mane scored 111 Premier League goals during his time with Southampton and Liverpool but, since leaving the Reds for Bayern last summer, he has struggled to recapture his best form.

Controversy has also surrounded the 31-year-old, after he punched teammate Leroy Sane and, while the situation has since been resolved, it is believed that Mane’s club could be open to selling him at the end of the season.

While Chelsea could do with signing a forward, with the Blues having only scored 30 goals in the Premier League this season, it doesn’t seem as though Mane will be the player brought in to fix the problem.
