Arsene Wenger Claims There Is One Big “Problem” That Chelsea Haven’t Fixed Despite Spending Spree

Ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims goalscoring remains a major “problem” for Chelsea despite spending well over £500m on players during the last two transfer windows.

The Blues were once again wasteful in front of goal as the club lost 2-0 to Real Madrid and, speaking after the game, Wenger said he was concerned that the issue has still not been addressed:

“I’m worried for Chelsea. If you don’t invest the £500m [well] then you have a problem. They haven’t invested well. They’ve same weaknesses as before. They don’t score enough goals. They’ve a lot of possession but not enough conversion.”

You don’t have to tell any Chelsea supporter about the team’s problems finding the net and it is baffling that the Blues’ recruitment team have failed to address it in the transfer market.

The London club have invested heavily in the first-team squad but to leave such a glaring weakness in such an important area of the pitch demonstrates the lack of coordination and planning in the transfer strategy.

Clearly, a new striker will have to be a top priority for the summer, otherwise, Chelsea will continue to suffer in the final third of the pitch.
