Chelsea are reportedly lining up a move for Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey if Christian Pulisic leaves Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old has been on the club’s radar since before he arrived in England, having impressed scouts during his time at Genk and Bayer Leverkusen.
However, injuries and poor form mean Bailey hasn’t made a big impression at Villa Park since making the switch to the Midlands last year, and fans on Twitter are not keen on the player joining the Blues:
Another average player

I’d rather him then Ronaldo but he’s not even remotely an upgrade

No, thank you. I would rather have Moussa Diaby from Leverkusen instead.

This club needs to start being serious for once.

This club is honestly starting to downgrade, The players we are trying to bring in are no upgrade to the players we already have it’s ridiculous. Who is actually recommending these players @ChelseaFC it’s a disgrace

Funny… they could just play Pulisic

You only have to look at Bailey’s record for Villa to see that he wouldn’t provide Chelsea with any cutting-edge in the final third of the pitch.
The Jamaican international has scored five goals and provided four assists in 34 appearances, which means he averages fewer goal involvements per game than Pulisic. It seems as though manager Graham Potter would be downgrading if he chose to swap the American for Bailey.
