Atalanta will sell wingback Robin Gosens if a bid of €25m (£22m) is made when the transfer window reopens, according to reports in the Italian media.
The German is one of the players Chelsea are reportedly considering to strengthen Frank Lampard’s options at left-back ahead of next season. Supporters on Twitter had a mixed response to the price tag:
Alonso 2.0

I’d take him for that price!

Same price as Telles or Tagliafico. I’d prefer to go for one of those two.

Do it. Gosens is beast of a player.

Clearly you've never seen him play.

Has got a bit more pace than Alonso, but prefers to play in a 3-5-2, or 3-4-3 more. or the left side of the midfield in a 4-4-2. Don't think he suits us!

Gosens is certainly more in the Alonso mould when it comes to fullbacks. He is very attack-minded and has been mostly deployed in wingback role by Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini this season.
That is borne out in the numbers with the 25-year-old having scored eight goals and contributed five assists in 30 appearances for the Serie A club.
Alternatives such as Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, Porto’s Alex Telles and Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico may be less impressive in terms of output but they are all more conventional fullbacks who would offer greater defensive solidity than Gosens.
