Alexis Mac Allister’s Father Speaks Out Amid Claims That Chelsea Have Joined Battle To Sign World Cup Winner

Alexis Mac Allister’s father and agent has confirmed that the Argentinian international will consider offers from other clubs if approaches are made during the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been mentioned as potential suitors but it emerged on Friday that Chelsea have identified the 24-year-old as their main alternative to Enzo Fernandez. When asked about his son’s future earlier this week, Carlos Mac Allister said:

“I can only say that together with the club we will analyse the offers we will receive and then we will decide what will happen with Alexis’ future. He is doing very well in England and is grateful to Brighton as they gave him the chance to come to Europe. However, neither can we provide a price nor can we say who called us. We don’t want to give any information that could prejudice imminent negotiations if any.”

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has mentioned previously that Brighton may hold out for a fee in the region of €65m (£57.6m) for Mac Allister but it is still substantially below what it would cost to sign his fellow World Cup winner, Fernandez.

Benfica are believed to be sticking to their guns in saying that interested clubs must match the midfielder’s €120m (£106.4m) release clause in full, which is something that the Blues are reluctant to do due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

For that reason, a deal for Mac Allister could look more attractive if negotiations for Fernandez do drag on.
